Usually, tennis is considered a summer sport but that doesn’t stop members at Netherseale Lawn Tennis Club whose junior teams have been busy playing in the Derbyshire Winter League.
This year they have produced their best ever results winning the 8, 9 and 10 and under leagues and placing 2nd and 3rd in the girl and boys 12 and under groups respectively.
These efforts have been partly down to the six juniors that have been invited to be part of the county training squads for Derbyshire. The three girls attending these are helping inspire more females to take up tennis. To celebrate their achievements the club is hosting a free She Rallies Festival which is an initiative of Judy Murray providing girls a taster into tennis. The festival is taking place at the club on the 24th of April 1pm to 2:30pm and will be run by female coaches for girls aged 4 to 18.
